While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. Reiki is based on the idea that ki, life force energy, flows through us sustaining our physical and mental bodies. The Reiki method is administered by “laying the hands” a few inches above the physical body to transmit this life energy force from practitioner to client. Low energy is linked to feelings of stress, sadness, illness, etc… Reiki treats the whole body creating many beneficial effects including stress reduction, feelings of peace and well-being. It has been effective in helping every known illness in conjunction with other medical and therapeutic techniques. The Chakras are described as the entry gates of the aura. The word chakra is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disc. There are seven primary or main chakras located in the central line or midline of the body starting from the base of the spine to the base of the head. These centers are believed to be spiritual and energy points within the human body receiving and expressing the life force energy. Each chakra is strongly related to a specific part of the body, emotion and spiritual concern. Any blockage or unbalance to these centers may cause health concerns starting from an emotional or spiritual manifesting into a physical ailment.
Qi Shiatsu
Qi Shiastu is a massage technique based on the traditional oriental philosophy that Qi or life force energy is present in our bodies and continuously nurturing our minds, cells, tissues, muscles and internal organs. Qi, or energy, nourishes the whole body through specific pathways or meridians,as they are referred to in oriental medicine, forming an interconnection of muscles, bones, skin and organs in a unified body. Any type of dis-ease is a sign that the energy within the meridians is out of balance. Along the meridians, they are highly charged energy points, pressure points in English or tsubo in Japanese, which is where the Qi is most affected. The theory of shiatsu is to stimulate the different tsubos to correct the energy imbalance. The points are worked on directly by pressure, stretching, rubbing, and corrective exercises, until proper energy flow is restored
